One Stroke Bench
One Stroke Bench
* Temporarily closed for maintenance from December 14.
Like the stroke of a brush, this is a single, connected bench.
The intricately overlapping planes and continuous curved surfaces have freely-changing functions, such as a chair for sitting, a table for eating and a lounger for resting. The three-dimensionally intersecting parts look like a solid block or a sculpture. The sequential bench wraps around the building and becomes a counter for the building, seamlessly connecting the building and the bench, creating a landscape with organic continuity.
As the sun sets, One Stroke Bench begins to glow. When people use a connected bench the light begins to continuously flow from them. If light approaches from the opposite side it signifies the presence of people there, making people more aware of the existence of others in the same space.
